Tungabhadra Dam
Tungabhadra Dam on Tungabhadra river is 7 Kms from Hospet. Tungabhadra dam was built in 1953.
The area of Tungabhadra dam is 387 sqkm. It is considered as a multipurpose dam because its is used for irrigation and to generate hydal power. 2 million acres of agricultural land is irrigated by the waters of the river. It has become a picnic or tourist spot over the years.
